LINK is the native and governance token in the Chainlink network. It helps finance the growth of the ecosystem as well as rewards miners with incentives. Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network and a blockchain abstraction layer that is pivotal in developing and implementing blockchain technologies in the real world. It was launched in 2017 by Sergey Nazarov, co-founder and CEO of Chainlink Labs, and Steve Ellis. It aimed to build a network that will allow blockchains to interact securely with third-party data feeds, events, and payment methods.
