Livepeer is a decentralized video transcoding network built on the Ethereum blockchain. The project aims at delivering a decentralized live video streaming network protocol that is scalable and crypto token incentivized. Additionally, it provides an economically efficient alternative to centralized broadcasting solutions for any existing broadcaster.
The major players in the Livepeer network are developers, token holders, and video miners. The Livepeer network uses Livepeer Token (LPT) as the protocol token. However, LPT is not the medium of exchange token, but Ethereum's Ether (ETH) is used to broadcast video on the network. LPT is the staking token that bonds the proof of stake system, routes work through the network, and forms a SectorCoin concept.
