Nexus Mutual – is a decentralized insurance protocol that uses Ethereum blockchain technology to allow crypto users to buy insurance covers or contribute towards a risk-sharing insurance pool. It offers insurance covers for smart contracts against any exploits or hacks on the smart contract code. It also provides a custody cover for lenders and custodians on the centralized exchange platforms such as Nexo, Blockfi, and Celsius. Nexus Mutual has two types of tokens, namely NXM and Wrapped NXM.
NXM is a governance utility token that enables people to vote on governance decisions, be part of Risk and Claim Valuations, and buy insurance covers. The NXM token price depends on a bonding curve resulting from the amount of capital necessary to claim against available mutual funds. Wrapped NXM is the transferable version of the primary token and is available in the open market. Hugh Karp founded Nexus Mutual in 2017 to insure decentralized finance (DeFi) against possible losses and hacks.
