Theta Fuel (TFUEL) is one of the native tokens on the Theta blockchain. It acts as a gas token and is used as the utility token in decentralized video and data delivery. It powers on-chain operations such as payments to relayers for video streaming services or deployment and interactions with the smart contracts. Besides, TFUEL is used as transaction fees when trading NTFs or deploying DeFi apps. Apart from being a utility token, Theta Fuel is used to reward users who provide Edge Compute nodes (redundant computing power) and Edge Caching nodes (bandwidth resources for video streams and data sharing). The Theta Ecosystem was founded in 2017 by Jieyi Long and Mitch Liu. Their main goal was to build a platform that would reward viewers with better streaming service, content creators earn better payments, while video streaming platforms be able to increase their marketing and revenues.
