We’re excited to welcome Kevin Pattenden – Founder of Engest Technology - Operator of the LearnCrypto platform.
With a background in software and technology, Kevin and his expert team are focused on creating a platform that makes cryptocurrencies easy to understand and helps users make smarter, more informed decisions.
Chris: From security to education: why build an education-first platform?
Kevin: When exchanges, influencers and speculation were getting all the attention, serious unbiased education wasn’t widely or easily available. We saw millions of people entering crypto without understanding custody, utility, or risk and they were getting burned.
Learncrypto was launched to fill the gap between hype and comprehension. Our goal is to filter out all the noise and give people knowledge before exposure, not after loss.
Chris: How do you balance technical depth with accessibility?
Kevin: We built our content on three tiers:
- Level 1: Zero-jargon introductions for newcomers
- Level 2: Practical explainers with analogies and visuals
- Level 3: Deep dives with technical accuracy
We never “dumb down”, we translate. If a beginner can read it without confusion and an experienced user still finds it accurate, we’ve done our job.
Chris: Why a modular approach with resources and glossary? Will it evolve?
Kevin: People learn crypto in fragments, not from chapter one to chapter ten. So we designed LearnCrypto like LEGO, you can choose the areas or topics you are most interested in and most of our lessons are in video format and short reads that can stand alone or link into larger learning paths.
Yes, we're constantly adding more structured courses, track-based learning and topical articles - in particular for businesses and professionals entering the space.
Chris: What makes you different from Binance Academy or CoinMarketCap Learn?
Kevin: They’re great platforms but they serve acquisition funnels. Our only goal is education, not conversion.
Key differences:
- We don’t push tokens, projects or campaigns.
- No “earn-to-learn” bias.
- We’re building a neutral education layer across ecosystems, not attached to one.
Chris: How do you prove you're not a marketing funnel or hype machine?
Kevin: Simple:
- No paywalled “secrets”, promises or get-rich quick claims
- No affiliate-led reviews disguised as tutorials
- No token shilling, trading signals, or hidden agendas
Our credibility comes from being independent, content-first, and transparent about partnerships.
Chris: How do you keep your content unbiased?
Kevin: We apply three rules:
- Clear disclosures on any collaboration or sponsorship
- No editorial control given to partners
- Honest reviews, based on our own teams experience
If we can’t say the pros and cons of a wallet or platform, we don’t cover it.
Chris: Who is your primary audience today?
Kevin: Our users fall into three main groups:
- Beginners trying to understand crypto beyond headlines
- Retail investors who want knowledge before risk
- Businesses looking to onboard new employees or upskill existing staff
The platform is designed to meet all three without losing clarity at any level.
Chris: How do partnerships not compromise neutrality?
Kevin: Yes, we collaborate, but on content.
The structure is always:
- Educational value first
- No editorial influence
- No “pay-to-be-praised” deals
When an exchange or wallet wants exposure, we tell them education isn’t advertising.
Chris: Do you see LearnCrypto as a way to reset expectations in crypto?
Kevin: Absolutely. Most people enter from emotion, greed, hype, FOMO. We focus on showing the utility, evolution, benefits, and risks so people stay for understanding, not quick wins. Our aim is to turn exit stories into long-term engagement built on clarity.
Chris: In five years, what should LearnCrypto be remembered for?
Kevin: We want LearnCrypto to be known as the platform that made crypto understandable before it became unavoidable.
If people can say: “I trusted crypto because I learned it through LearnCrypto not because someone pitched it to me,” then we’ve done our job.
