Greetings, Crypto enthusiasts! My guest today is Jane - CMO of Renta Network!
Jane is a marketing lead with 8+ years of experience in digital and product marketing. Previously worked in logistics, Web2 SaaS and now fully immersed in the Web3 space, building brand ecosystems and growth strategies for blockchain products. Leading the community, product marketing and partnerships for Renta Network.
Chris: “Rent the world” is a powerful slogan. What was the original spark behind Renta — was it born from personal frustration, a market gap you noticed, or a long-standing vision for decentralizing access to goods and property?
Jane: The idea behind Renta came from a simple but powerful observation: people are already renting everything — but the process is broken. We saw a market dominated by intermediaries, heavy commissions, identity checks, and paper-based bureaucracy. So we thought: what if we could decentralize this process entirely — from agreement to payment to ownership? That spark became Renta.
Chris: How did you decide to blend so many verticals — real estate, electronics, tools, and even intangible assets — into one ecosystem? Was this always the plan or did it evolve with the technology?
Jane: We started with a big vision: to create a universal rental layer for Web3. Of course, the tech wasn’t ready for it all at once. But as L2 infrastructure matured and smart contract standards evolved, it became clear we could unify multiple types of assets — from homes to laptops to Discord servers — under one logic: temporary access with trustless execution. It wasn’t just a plan — it was a direction we grew into.
Chris: Why was OP Stack your preferred choice for Renta’s Layer 2 blockchain? What advantages does it bring that you felt were missing from other L2 or rollup solutions?
Jane: OP Stack gave us exactly what we needed:
- Open-source modularity for future expansion
- EVM compatibility for easy integration
- Strong developer ecosystem
- And a commitment to public goods, which matches our values.
Other rollups looked promising, but OP Stack is what made us feel like we were building with the community, not just on top of a network.
Chris: PropertyNFTs are a unique innovation — how do they go beyond regular NFTs? Can you walk us through how one is created, and how it represents physical or intangible rental assets on-chain?
Jane: PropertyNFT is more than just a token — it's a programmable representation of a rental asset. Each PropertyNFT contains metadata about the asset, time-based access rights, and rental terms. When a rental agreement is signed, that NFT acts as the access token, escrow logic, and legal layer — all rolled into one.
They go beyond regular NFTs because they are active — they're not just collectibles, they're contracts in motion.
Chris: You emphasize eco-friendly blockchain tech. Can you explain how your infrastructure minimizes waste and CO2 emissions — and how meaningful that impact is at scale?
Jane: We’re committed to sustainability, and that’s one of the reasons we chose OP Stack. It runs on proof-of-stake, minimizing energy consumption compared to PoW chains. But beyond that, our infrastructure optimizes on-chain data use to avoid unnecessary writes and storage, reducing bloat and carbon footprint.
It’s not just about being "green" — it's about building responsibly for scale.
Chris: Your tokenomics model includes blocking tokens for the team and advisors. How important is long-term alignment in Web3 project development, and what mistakes are you avoiding with this model?
Jane: Long-term alignment is everything in Web3. Too many projects dump tokens early, burn their reputation, and disappear. We’ve locked team and advisor tokens because we’re in this for years, not months Our model ensures that those who build Renta stay committed to its success — not just in the hype phase, but during scaling, growth, and real-world adoption.
Chris: Walk us through what a first-time experience looks like on the Renta dApp. How easy is it for someone with no crypto background to rent a car, a tool, or even a website?
Jane: It’s designed to be as intuitive as booking on Airbnb — but without the middleman. You connect your wallet, browse listings, and with just a few clicks, you can rent a tool, a property, or even a Discord bot. No paperwork. Smart contracts handle the logic. And with AiRen — our AI assistant — the entire process becomes even easier.
Chris: The Renta Rank program gamifies community participation. What behaviors are you trying to encourage through this system, and what privileges are unlocked at higher levels?
Jane: Renta Rank is our way of rewarding real community builders. Whether you’re sharing content, helping in Telegram, creating memes or moderating — you earn points and rise through the ranks. Each level unlocks perks: early access to features, boosted rewards, governance weight, and more. It’s not just gamification — it’s a social layer of contribution.
Chris: Finally, if you could send a message 5 years into the future to the global Renta community, what would you hope that message says about what you’ve built together?
Jane: We hope it says:
“We didn’t just build a platform.
We changed how people think about ownership, access, and trust.
We turned rentals into an open, permissionless experience — and gave people back control over how they use and share the world.”
